Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, PTSA Meeting, held in the Cafeteria at Bethesda Chevy Chase.
The BCC PTSA president, Paula Ott, called the meeting to order at 7:09 p.m.
Those in attendance were: Paula Ott, San Dee Ostrach, Carole Brand, Nancy Zeller, Suzi Walsh, Denise Evans, Joyce Somsak, Teri Brooks, Katie Rosenberg, Jane Socoloff, Julia August, Doug Gray, Amy Ross, Kirk Renaud, Nancy Grimmer, Nancy Batson, Ellen Gerecht, Nancy Wolfe, Linda Barnes, Carol Rubin, Bob Loesche & Chantel Greene.
Treasurer’s Report: Bob Loesche distributed a cash in/cash out report. He noted that the Book Fair profits were approximately $17,000 (with taxes yet to be paid.) Janet Clifton raised $2,500 for the practice SAT, and she is helping with Career Exploration Day.
Janet Clifton: We’d like to propose funding for the Career Exploration Day up to $1,200. This would help cover the speaker cost of ~ $1,000 plus the lunch cost.
Motion to Approve funds up to $1,200 for Career Exploration Day: The motion to approve funds up to $1,200 for Career day was made and seconded, all members in attendance voted in favor, none voted against. The Motion was passed.
Paula Ott: With the Book Sale funds coming in as projected, we’ve decided to fund the teacher’s wish list up to $1,000 per department for classroom needs. The teacher’s wish list is already in the budget.
After Prom: Peggy Robbins reported that we need some 10th and 11th grade parents to help with the after prom party, to be held at Dave & Busters from 1:30 to 5:30 following the Senior Prom at BCC. After Prom is designed to provide a fun, safe environment for seniors to go after their prom ends. Last year the majority of kids came to the after prom and stayed. We need lots of donations for door prizes, etc, and we need lots of parent involvement. It’s lots of fun.
Paula Ott: We need a nominating committee in place for next year’s PTSA. If you want to be on the committee, please contact me.
Nancy Wolf: Cluster update, the cluster meeting is tomorrow (Feb 18th.) There are lots of issues coming down the line; we need to keep an eye on the Annapolis Budget.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:19 p.m.
(Following the meeting there was a BCC Boosters Club Presentation)
Respectfully submitted,
Chantel Greene, Secretary
