Beall is a Great Place to Be!

Beall Elementary School is located in historic Rockville and serves a diverse population of nearly 610 students in Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth grade. This includes two special-education programs: Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Pre-K Speech and Language. A professional staff of over 60 homeroom teachers and specialists work with the children to build learning and achievement in all aspects of education. Thirteen paraeducators and other support staff augment this team. Beall is one of four elementary schools that feed into Julius West Middle School and Richard Montgomery High School. Beall opened in 1954 and was renovated and modernized in 1991. We celebrated our 50th anniversary in May, 2004.

Beall's diverse community has a 26% mobility rate and a 34% Free and Reduced Meals (FARMS) rate, which enables the school to receive local funding support to enhance student success. It provides for additional resources through personnel and materials. The student population is 18% African American, 0.2% American Indian, 27.5% Asian American, 16.4% Hispanic, and 37.9% White.

Throughout the school's history, the English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) population has continued to grow. Currently, 18% of our students represent Beall's ESOL population. Our ESOL students speak a wide variety of languages: Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Farsi, Russian, Urdu, Thai, Japanese, French, Bulgarian, and Indonesian. The school staff, parents, and students are proud of their culturally rich diversity and the families work together to make Beall a highlight of their Rockville Community.
