Creating an opera is like putting together a puzzle. Everyone has an important role and everyone contributes equally to its success. Our company is made up of fifty third grade students who are putting time and effort into creating an original opera. Each company member has a job such as writer, composer, set designer, makeup artist, costume designer, carpenter, electrician, performer, manager, or public relations officer.
 
Creating Original Opera has been a program of the Metropolitan Opera Guild Education Department. It is in its eleventh year at Beverly Farms. The program is made possible by the generous support of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and the MCPS Education Foundation. In addition, we enjoy an educational partnership with The Washington National Opera.
