Beverly Farms Physical Education program follows MCPS's vision of teaching spatial awareness, movement, and a variety of kinesthetic skills for grades K-2, and then building on those skills toward sport skill themes like shooting, passing, dribbling, throwing, catching, kicking, striking with implements, tumbling and dance for grades 3-5. Mr. Purgason was part of a curriculum development team that tested and refined the new MCPS curriculum and he is very excited to impart his knowledge onto BF's students. In the winter, Mr. Purgason plans to have our school participate in the Annual Hoops-4-Heart Fundraiser that has helped to raise more than $70,000 dollars in the last 9 years. It is a great school wide event that helps to fight heart disease, strokes and heart attacks. The highlight of Mr. Purgason's PE Program and year is the end of the year Field Day for grades K-5. It is a 2 day PE extravaganza that features 15 + stations of fun and excitement. Mr. Purgason looks forward to teaching another healthy and fun year of Physical Education to your children.
