Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to Third Grade! We are excited to start a new school year. First, we would like to congratulate last year's third graders for their stupendous scores on the MSA. Their hard work and study skills really paid off!

There is a big focus in third grade to do your best work and to improve on the study skills that you have already learned. To start the year off right, we will emphasize organization by developing the habit of using the daily assignment planner correctly. This will involve student, parent, and teacher cooperation and communication.

Now, for some of the nitty-gritty details:

• Student assignment planners cost $3.00. If you have not already done so, please send cash or a check made payable to Cashell E.S.
• We have begun collecting $6.00 per student for Time For Kids. TFK is a magazine used as an enrichment in reading. If you have not already done so, please send cash or a check made payable to your child’s teacher (NOT TO CASHELL).
• Record all homework assignments and important information in your Homework Planner daily. Don’t forget to get one of your parents to sign it every night (except Fridays).
• We will have Math first thing in the morning, so don't be late!
• A third grade spelling word wall inventory will be sent home to practice throughout the year.
• Be on the lookout for even more info from the monthly calendars that will be sent home beginning in October.
• Third graders will have lunch and recess from 11:40 AM-12:40 PM.
• Homeroom class schedules were given out during Back to School Night.
