Education Policy ABC, Parental Involvement

The Montgomery County Board of Education has requested community comment regarding Policy ABC, Parental Involvement and Montgomery County Public Schools(MCPS)Regulation ABC-RA, Parent and Family Involvement, the regulatory framework. The policy sets forth the guidelines for encouraging parent and family involvement in the school community to support children’s education, healthy development, and well-being. The policy was updated to remove regulatory language and align with research-based national standards for family-school partnerships.

The process of seeking public comment is designed to ensure that Board policies are easily accessible to a wide audience of interested parties who may wish to have input in policy development. Copies of the draft policy and the regulatory framework are attached. If you prefer to have printed copies of these documents sent to you by mail, please call the Public Information Office at 301-279-3853. You also can access these documents on the MCPS website at www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/policy.

Individuals who wish to provide comments should respond in writing by Tuesday, April 20, 2010. All responses should be sent to the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive, Room 122, Rockville, Maryland 20850. The responses will be shared with the members of the Board of Education.
