Students are invited to apply to the 2008 Maryland Summer Centers for Gifted and Talented Students. Please click here for a list of the units, including the grade levels, and a sample of the application. Applications must be postmarked by April 15, 2008. The mission of the academy "is to accelerate students' mastery of academics, specifically reading, language arts, and mathematics, and to close the achievement gap. The Learning Academy is a tutoring and mentoring program that enhances the academic performance and achievement of students in grades 1 through 12. On Saturday mornings, from 8:30 to 11 a.m., certified teachers and volunteer tutors work with students on core subjects and teach successful learning/studying strategies."
