Around the World Night: Committee chairperson organizes an event for families to bring in clothing, foods, and perform dances of their heritage. (Event held in the fall)

Book Fair: Committee chairperson organizes event with Scholastic Books and sets up for the book fair. Volunteers needed to help collect payment, restock shelves and help students purchase books. (Event held twice a year in fall and spring)

Bulletin Board: Committee chairperson makes monthly changes to the PTA bulletin board of upcoming school events and cluster information.

Chess Club: Committee chairperson organizes chess sessions with a professional chess instructor. Responsibilities include registering students, collection of payment and publicity. (Morning event with 10-week sessions)

Collections: Committee chairperson collects and organizes donation programs from Target, Giant, Safeway, Box Tops and newspaper recycling throughout the school year.

Copying: Committee assists with the copying of the monthly newsletter The Bear Facts. (Once a month)

Cultural Arts: Committee chairperson organize school wide assemblies for students throughout the school year.

Dads & Doughnuts: Committee chairperson organizes morning event for dads, grandfathers, uncle or male significant in the household to come and have doughnuts with their child in the morning. Responsibilities include purchasing the food items and sending out flyers.

Family Fun Nights: Committee chairperson organizes family events such as bingo, movie nights and other entertainment. (3-4 events per year)

Family Picnic: Committee chairperson organizes the end of the year school picnic. Chairperson is needed to help with set up, food sales, crafts, rental equipment, games and other picnic events. (Event held in May)

FLES: (Foreign Language for Elementary Students) Committee chairperson organizes Spanish lessons before school. Chairperson register students, send in paper work to the county and collects payment.

Gifted and Talented: Committee chairperson informs and organizes events for parents of Gifted and Talented students with enrichment activities in the county and state.

Golf Tournament: Committee members organize event to raise funds for school improvements. Obtain sponsors, helps with set up of golf course, raffles and food. (Event held in the Spring)

Grandparents Day: Committee chairperson organizes event for grandparents and seniors to visit students. They help with set up, serve refreshments, invitations, sign in sheets and photography.

Hands on Science: Science program sponsored by Montgomery County for each grade level. Committee chairperson organizes sessions, registers students and collects payment. (Each session is 8 weeks)

Hospitality: Committee chairperson helps with set up of refreshments and cleans up for various PTA events. Supplies all paper products for PTA events. (i.e.: back to school night, staff appreciation lunch etc.)

Kindergarten Orientation: Committee chairperson organizes orientation held in the spring for incoming kindergarten students and parents. Includes coordinating refreshments and volunteers.

Membership: Committee chairperson is responsible for maintaining records of PTA membership and soliciting dues at the beginning of the year and distributes the PTA membership cards. Organize the name and address information for the school directory.

Newsletter: Committee chairperson is responsible for creating the monthly PTA newsletter called the Bear Facts and obtains information of upcoming PTA and school events. Includes reports from the President and committees.

Parenting Program: Committee chairperson obtains parenting information for the parent resource center and organizes parent programs.

Parking Committee: Committee chairperson aids in the parking of cars at school events such as back to school nights, grandparent's day, and the family picnic.

Prize Committee: PTA's primary contact for soliciting donations from local businesses and/or corporations for PTA events such as the Silent Auction at the family picnic.

Read A Loud Day: Committee chairperson organizes volunteer readers from the community to read to a class and speak about how reading is incorporated in their everyday life. Volunteers help with set up and clean up of refreshments.

School Directory: Committee chairperson creates the annual PTA school directory. Obtains name and address information from PTA membership. Responsibilities include typing, printing and distribution. (Completed in the fall)

School Improvement Team: Committee chairperson participates in the development of a new school improvement plan. Meets with staff and administration throughout the year and provides parent input on school curriculum and procedures.

School Store: Committee chairperson sells school supply items every Monday before school. Responsibilities include publicity, the selling and ordering of inventory.

School Supply Kits: Committee chairperson advertises, collects payment, sends in the order and distributes the School supply kits. (Done in the spring)

Science Fair: Committee chairperson solicits and organizes science fair projects, orders display boards, obtain judges, distribute ribbons and certificates for participating students. Responsible for setting up science related event workshops. (Held in February)

Special Needs: Committee chairperson works within school to serve as a resource to parents and staff by providing literature and assistance to better understand the special education process and resources available in Montgomery County.

Spring Dance: Committee chairperson organizes event at Rocky Hill Middle School. Responsibilities include decorations, parent and middle school volunteers to help with set up, clean up, ticket sales, coat check and concession. (Event held in March)

Spirit Nights: Committee chairperson organizes a night once a month at either Chick-fil-a, Dominos or Baja Fresh to raise funds for the PTA.

Spirit Wear: Committee chairperson advertises and orders school logo clothing. Responsibilities include collecting payment and distribution.

Staff Appreciation: Committee chairperson organizes monthly staff appreciation luncheons. Each grade level sponsors lunch monthly. Committee responsibilities include obtaining volunteers to bring in prepared foods, help with set up and clean up.

Truck Day: Committee chairperson organizes community trucks or vehicles to visit the school and discuss how their vehicle is used in the community and provided a light morning snack and lunch for visitors. (Event last held in spring 2005 - held every other year.)

Volunteer Coordinator: Committee chairperson organizes volunteers for various in class events, record all logged in volunteer hours and submits records to Montgomery County.

Ways and Means: Committee chairperson organizes fundraisers for PTA to help support cultural arts and other programs offered. (Example: selling of gift wrap, cookie dough etc.)

Webmaster: Committee chairperson organizes and keeps up to date information of PTA and Cedar Grove information on our website. Committee seeks computer savvy people.
