~ Welcome to Our Transition Committee Page ~

Update ~ June 16, 2009

  • Our End-of-the-Year Picnic was a huge success. Thanks to Mrs. Kaider and her elves, we had enough autograph books for our students who shared them so everyone could create a memory.
  • Thank you all for a wonderful year. Your input and participation have helped us create a warm environment for our next school year .

The Transition Committee consists of Cedar Grove staff; Cedar Grove parents who are moving next year; Cedar Grove parents who are staying at Cedar Grove next year; Little Bennett parents who are joining Cedar Grove’s community next year; and a PTA Board representative.

Purpose:

  • To advise the school administration of the needs and concerns resulting from the boundary and enrollment changes arising from the opening of Clarksburg ES # 8, specifically addressing the four stakeholder groups: 1) Cedar Grove Staff; 2) Cedar Grove students and families who will stay; 3) Cedar Grove students and families who will attend Clarksburg #8; and 4) incoming students and families.
  • To develop and implement supports to all stakeholder groups.

As of May 18 , 2009, our committee of staff and parents has accomplished some of the following:

  • Planned an End of the Year Celebration for CG, to be held on June 16.
Sent to Little Bennett families our newly published CG brochures and invitations to our Open House/Family Picnic.
  • Received parent surveys from Little Bennett families which will be attending CGES next year.
  • Assisted Mr. Derby in planning and organizing an Open House for our new population.
Mrs. Spoales is continuing her transition/boundary change lessons in all Cedar Grove classrooms.
  • Mrs. Bosnic has taken the lead with the Clarksburg #8 sub-Committee and addressed many issues pertinent to that community.
  • Cedar Grove Kindergarten Orientation for incoming Kindergartners will be publicized much more extensively than usual so that all incoming families will get the pertinent information.
  • An Open House, with an extra-curricular “job fair” is being planned to welcome incoming Cedar Grove families.
  • We are working on a School Spruce-Up plan; coordinating with the PTA and exploring landscaping avenues.
  • We are asking the PTA to help gather childcare availability information, perhaps in the form of an information fair.
  • Created two sub-committees: one for the staying/coming to Cedar Grove stakeholders and one for the leaving Cedar Grove stakeholders. These sub-committees will begin focusing on issues relevant to each school, to include instructional, safety, and introductory/community issues.
  • Created and distributed a parent survey for those families coming to Cedar Grove from Little Bennett ES.
  • Reviewed and sent a survey question to the families of current 2nd and 3rd graders.
  • Sent a letter to fourth grade families.
