I am glad I read it.
In The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big
round Things by Carolyn Mackler, we meet a very self-conscious
teenage girl. Her best friend moved to another state and
she has started eating in the bathroom stalls. She constantly
puts herself down for being overweight and thus doesn't
want to look at herself in the mirror. She thinks she is
not perfect enough for her family. We see her struggle to
find herself as a person , to fit in the family, and to
make new friends while maintaining old friendships as well.
I'm not going to say everyone can relate, but you still
feel greatly involved in the problems. |
