Academic Eligibility
Student Atheletes Must:
1. Students in grades 7-12 must maintain a 2.0 average with no more than one "E" (failure) in the previous marking period to be eligible to participate in any activities listed as non-athletic or athletic.
2.
Incomplete grades that are not changed to a passing grade within 10 school days after report cards are issued will be considered failing grades for eligibility purposes. The only two exceptions are noted below:
- This ruling does not apply to students entering high school in the fall for the first time.
- This ruling does not apply to students engaged in activities, which are extensions of a graded course, such as band.
- CBC meetings are scheduled throughout the year and all members are invited to attend.
Alcohol/Drugs/Tobacco
This policy for alcohol, drugs, and tobacco is in effect 24 hours a day while an athlete is on a team.
Tobacco
Use of tobacco in any form at any school sponsored activity will result in the following consequences:
- 1st Offense - One day suspension from school during which time the student may not participate in any activity.
- 2nd Offense - Minimum one day suspension/maximum one week suspension from activities.
- 3rd Offense - Maximum 10 day suspension and a month suspension from activities.
Alcohol/Drugs
Possession and/or use is illegal and thus a criminal offense. Police will be notified and this may result in expulsion from MCPS.
1st Offense

10 day suspension from school.

30 school day suspension from extracurricular activities. Resumption of extracurricular activities will not occur until the completion of a counseling component.

Athletes will not participate for the remainder of the season.

Students who hold a leadership position within a team, club or other school organization will have to step down from that position.

Students who possess parking passes or lunch passes will relinquish those passes for the year.Other students will be prohibited from entering the lottery for a parking lot space in the future.
2nd Offense
Two year suspension from activities from the date of the infraction.
3rd Offense
Suspension from all extra and co-curricular activities for the duration of high school.
Distribution of Alcohol/Drugs
- Principal must recommend expulsion from MCPS and police are notified.
- 1st Offense= If the student returns to WCHS - forfeiture of membership in all WCHS activities for the duration of high school.
*Extracurricular activities are those that do not fall within the scope of the regular curriculum, are officially recognized and sanctioned by the administration, have a faculty sponsor or a coach and for which students do not receive credit.
