Attention Volunteers!

When volunteering at school, please:

Sign in and out using the VOLUNTEER LOG BOOK (white binder) in the Main Office. Do NOT use the visitor sign-in sheet if you are volunteering. (All volunteer hours are tabulated and reported to MCPS.)

If using the Volunteer Log Book for the first time:

  • take a new sheet from the inside pocket of the binder,
  • fill in your name and other information,
  • place the sheet behind the appropriate lettered tab, and
  • use this sheet to sign in each time you volunteer at school.

If you volunteer on a regular basis, please ask the Main Office staff to make a photo ID badge for you.

PTA Board Vacancy - MVP

Due to professional and family commitments, Mr. Baxter has resigned as VP of Membership.  The PTA board thanks him for his service.

If you would like to serve the PTA & the CGES community as VP of Membership, please contact Gegi Leeger at gegipta@hotmail.com.

Mosaic Help!

The final stage of the mosaic is here!  It is time to grout!  This will be done in the late afternoon/evening one day in early November.  I NEED HELP!  If you have any experience grouting and would like to be part of the creation of the mosaic PLEASE e-mail or call me.  Once I know who can help and your schedules we can pick a date to actually do the work.  If you do not have experience, but would still like to help, I can use additional people to help clean off the tile after the grout is applied.  Please e-mail me if you are interested in helping.  My e-mail address is: sharrisphillips@gmail.com and my phone number is 301-340-8822.

Thank you.  Sue Harris Phillips

H1N1 Flu Vaccination Clinics - CANCELLED

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services has advised us that the previously scheduled H1N1 (swine) flu vaccination clinics on November 4, November 11, and November 18 at Northwood, Northwest, and Rockville high schools have been cancelled due to shortages of the H1N1 vaccine. For up-to-date information about vaccine availability, visit the county’s website www.montgomerycountymd.gov/h1n1flu or call the flu hotline at 240-777-4200.

Lunch and Recess Volunteers Needed

We need help from parent during lunch and recess.  Lunch help is needed for Kindergarten and 1st grade and recess help is needed for all grades K-5.  In order to coordinate volunteers a website has been set up that will list the times and dates help is needed.  All you have to do is sign up to join the community group and then you can check the schedule to see where your help is needed.  There are four different time slots ranging between 10:45 and 12:30 and most shifts are only 45 minutes.  This is a great chance for parents to lend a helping hand even when their spare time is short.

Recess volunteers will help keep an eye on the kids while they are playing and assist with things they may need help with.  Recess volunteers will also help at the hand wash basin as the kids move inside for lunch.

Lunch volunteers (K and 1st grade) are needed to help the little ones open milk and other packages and assist with other things they may need.  Some parents find it tough to let their kids see them during the school day so even if you don’t have a child in K or 1st grade we could use your help during this time period.

To get signed up please click this link http://www.lotsahelpinghands.com/c/617622/ to start.  From there you should fill out the right-hand side of the form which is a Request to Join the Community. Once you’ve done this your membership will be approved by a coordinator and you will be added to the community.  You will then get an e-mail with instructions for setting a password and signing in.

Even if you don’t think you can help right now please sign up now so you will be able to sign up for these or other volunteer opportunities in the future.

If you have any questions please contact Nancy Paul at Nancy@LifeRelationshipCoach.com. Thanks for your help!!
