With the winter season upon us, snow forecasts and weather emergencies are happening. Flower Hill will continue to send out messages about school closures, early releases, and two hour delays. MCPS will send out a color-coded alert. Check your email or text message for what each color means. Open Source Phonics Resource for Families
MCPS has partnered with Open Source Phonics to provide access to resources for families. Open Source Phonics provides 120 lessons on phonics patterns, spelling rules, and decodable stories that students can use to practice skills and increase fluency. MAEOE Recognizes FHES as a 2023 Maryland Green School
On May 18, 2023, Flower Hill ES was recognized as a Maryland Green School by the Maryland Association of Environmental and Outdoor Education. This was a two-year process where we partnered with Nature Forward and the University of Maryland Extension SNAP-Ed, to deliver many lessons and hands-on experiences, both indoor and outdoor, around environmental agricultural topics, and importance of healthy water and food to nature and our bodies. We also had three Green Teams (grades 3, 4, and 5) that were leaders in our school community. Click here for more information.
