Even Start Staff

  • Robin Hernandez

    Robin Hernandez coordinates the GES Even Start project.  She has certification in Early Childhood Education and ESOL.  She has worked for MCPS for six years as a classroom teacher and an ESOL teacher.  Robin received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and her graduate work is with Trinity University.  She was born and raised in Montgomery County and attend MCPS.  Her husband, Eddie, is also a MCPS graduate, as well as an MCPS teacher.  Together, they have one son. 

  • Paola Aguirre

    Paola Aguirre provides academic support to the adults in the program.  She assists them in learning English and helps them with their homework from ESOL classes, which are provided by Montgomery College at the Bohrer Parent Resource Center.  She graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore County with a B.A. degree in Psychology.  Last year she worked at the Ed Bohrer Center with a program similar to Even Start.  She loves working with adults and children. 

  • Keila Cubias

    Keila Cubias collects and enters Even Start data. In her position as Administrative Assistant, she performs many other office duties, as well as provides overall program support. Keila's family is from the Dominican Republic and she is the parent of five bilingual, bicultural boys, the youngest one born in September 2005. 

  • Maria de la Rosa

    Maria de la Rosa provides early childhood activities.  Originally from Mexico, she is the parent of two bilingual, bicultural children in MCPS public schools. She studied law at university in Mexico. Maritsa was a GES parent and has been an active volunteer at the school and in the community for many years. She has a certificate in Child Development.

  • Lydia Ruiz

    Lydia Ruiz provides the home visitation and parent education component of Even Start.  In addition, she guides families in the development of family action plans, maintains family records, and makes referrals to community services.  She is a certified Parents as Teachers parent educator.  She holds a bachelor's degree and is also an ordained reverend.  Lydia is of Puerto Rican heritage and comes from New York City.  She is the mother of a teen-age son.

  • Adriana Gutierrez

    Adriana Gutierrez provides early childhood education services.  She holds a bachelors's degree in law from her home country of Colombia.  She is the mother of four bilingual, bicultural children.

  • Aminelis Rivas

    Aminelis Rivas provides care to the infants in the early childhood room, and assists with other early childhood activities as needed.  She has experience working with young children.  She is of Nicaraguan heritage.
