PREPARING FOR SUCCESS! Female high school students - this event is for you! November 21 (Saturday) from 10:00am until 4:30pm at Montgomery College, Rockville in the Theatre Arts Building. Register on line at www.preparingforsuccess.org. Free bus service is available from Gaithersburg High School at 9:15am. Program includes info about Getting into College and Paying for It!, Guide to Independencee, Street Law and How to Stay Safe, Landing the Job and Keeping It and The Right Look Fashion Show. Future Quest 2009 is a free College and Career forum for students with disabilities, parents, and professionals. The event is being held on Saturday, November 21st, from 8:30am - 2:40pm at the George Mason University Johnson Center in Fairfax, Virginia. Individuals can pre-register at www.vacollegequest.org. Montgomery College Application Information
SENIORS: Are you applying to Montgomery College? The applications are now available. Please stop in to the College Career Center to pick up an application as soon as possible. The application should be returned directly to the college career center. Applications brought in before March 1, 2010 will have application fees waived. All Gaithersburg High School seniors should consider submitting an application to Montgomery College. Once you have applied, any courses you take at MC while attending another college (during the summer, for example), will not require another application. Please do not wait for the deadline!
 
Trinity University, an all women institution located in Washington, DC, will be holding an on-the-spot admissions event, Thursday, Nov. 19 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at Wheaton High School. This is an exceptional opportunity for students to receive on the spot admissions decisions as well as scholarship offers. Trinity University is seeking students with a 2.5 GPA or higher and test scores are optional. Merit scholarship consideration will be given to students with higher GPAs who have demonstrated success in Honors and AP courses. Students participating in the event are asked to bring completed applications, official transcripts, a personal statement, and at least one letter of recommendation. Any interested students must see me in the college career center no later than Monday, November 16 by 2:00pm.
 
The Montgomery County Women's Bar Foundation is sponsoring its 9th annual "Preparing for Success" Fall Forum on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Montgomery College, Rockville Campus. The program is free of charge. It will begin with a keynote speaker and offer workshops focusing on getting a job and keeping it, budgets, checkbooks and credit cards, as well as the college admission process. In addition there will be a presentation entitled "Street Law and How to Stay Safe." A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. The day will conclude with a "Right Look" fashion show. There will be raffle prizes as well. Transportation will be provided from Gaithersburg High School. You may register on-line at www.preparingforsuccess.org or stop in at the College & Career Center and pick up a form.
 
Dr.’s office adjacent to Shady Grove Hospital needs an individual to work Monday through Friday afternoons. Duties include: typing, copying, and general office work. Call Vicky at 301-251-1771 between 9:00 and 5:00.
 
Syracuse University's School of Architecture is seeking young men and women of color interested in pursuing a five year professional degree in Architecture. Syracuse is committed to bringing diversity to this field and has scholarship money set aside to fully cover education costs for 10 students.
