Summer NEW! HOWARD UNIVERSITY - SCIENCE CONNECTIONS FOR HEALTH CAREERS - SUMMER PROGRAM. July 8 - August 1. Program designed to stimulate interest in health/science careers. Program components include mathematical concepts, oral & written communication, reading skills, visits to Science Centers, Museums & laboratories. Students who live and attend school in the Greater Washington, DC Metropolitan area with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher and in grades 7 through 11 are eligible to attend. Registration fee $300.00. Applicants must be US citizens, non-citizen nationals or foreign nationals with a visa permitting permanent US residence. VOLUNTEER FOR THE GEORGE B. THOMAS, SR. LEARNING ACADEMY (GBTLA, also known as THE SATURDAY SCHOOL)! Give a Little Time ... Make A BIG Difference. Student Service Learning (SSL) is a graduation requirement to students in Maryland, and beginning with the class of 2011, 75 SSL hours are required for graduation, so ... here is a way to GET BUSY! Volunteer at Gaithersburg High School on Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 11:00 and make a difference in the life of a child. Volunteer tutors are needed in Reading, Language Arts, Math & Test-Taking Skills. Volunteers could also be eligible for the High Achievement Scholarship Program offered by GBTLA. Interested? FORBES MAGAZINE Ranks MCPS 5th Best School District

The Student Online Learning (SOL) program in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) provides students with opportunities to obtain high school credits outside the regular school day through Internet-based courses. Just like traditional courses, these online courses are taught by highly-qualified MCPS teachers.
