Author Visit
Hena Khan
February 13, 2009

Author Hena Khan visited our school on the 13th of February for two assemblies. She began both assemblies by reading her first children's picture book, Night of the Moon: A Muslim Holiday Story aloud. Afterwards we learned about whom real characters in her book are named after, various aspects of how her family and the family in the story celebrate Ramadan, and the importance of the connection of the moon to this Muslim holiday. She did a Henna demonstration, and shared some of the items one might buy at the celebration of Eid.

Hena also shared about the process of collaborating with one editor and illustrator to develop the book to its final state. She has authored nine other books, and is a Montgomery County Public Schools graduate.

To learn more about Hena Khan please visit her website. Below are a few pictures from the exciting assembly. Our Goshen community learned a lot from Ms. Khan's presentation!
