PTA Announcements and EventsThe November LuxLetter is now available. Submissions for the LuxLetter are due the 20th of every month and can be emailed to Michelle Raynes. The next PTA meeting is Tuesday, December 8th in the media center at 7:30 pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Immediately after the meeting we will have our annual 5th Grade Chorus Holiday Concert at 7:00 pm. Support your children by becoming a member of the PTA. With each membership you'll recieve a free calendar and a free directory. Join the Luxmanor Elementary School Listserv by sending an email to Mrs. Mozayeni. Include "Luxmanor ES Listserv" in the subject line, your child's name and grade, and your name in the body. Support Walter Johnson High School"A Night at the Museum" Gala and Silent Auction on Saturday, December 5th, 2009, 8P to 11:30P at the Ratner Museum in Bethesda. The WJ High School Education Foundation, Booster Club, and PTSA will be holding a Silent Auction to support the many programs at Walter Johnson High School. Spend an evening with friends enjoying music, dancing, food, and bidding on the Silent Auction items. H1N1 FluPlease keep in mind these general precautions for preventing flu and staying healthy: cover coughs and sneezes; wash hands frequently; and avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. It is important that you stay home if you are sick with flu-like symptoms (fever greater than 100 ºF with a cough or sore throat). Tips for taking care of yourself or a family member who is ill with the flu are posted on the MCPS website. In addition, the Centers for Disease Control had published a brochure for your information. Parent AcademyThe class schedule is online. Parents can learn about positive discipline, using Edline, bullying, student service learning, and much more. Classes are FREE and language services are available. Registration is now open. Homework Hotline Live! - MCPS Instructional Television (MCPS-ITV) program offers one-on-one homework help. MCPS teachers take calls from students live on-the-air and assist them with homework problems. HHL airs from 5:00 to 6:00pm on Comcast Ch. 33, Verizon Ch. 35, and RCN Ch. 88 every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday through Apr. 30th. The number to call for free homework help is 301-279-3234. |
