Eligibility & Transportation

Who is eligible to attend one of these new magnet programs?

  • All Grade 5 students living within the geographic boundaries of Argyle, Parkland, and Loiederman (the MSMC Attendance Area) will participate in the Choice process and attend one of the Consortium magnet middle schools.
  • Grade 5 students who live in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Walter Johnson, or Rockville high school cluster may apply through the Choice process to attend one of these three schools.
  • Grade 5 students throughout Montgomery County may apply through the Choice process to attend one of these three schools.

  • Bel Pre
  • Brookhaven
  • Georgian Forest
  • Harmony Hills
  • Sargent Shriver
  • Strathmore
  • Viers Mill
  • Weller Road
  • Wheaton Woods
Will transportation be provided?
  • All students who reside within the Consortium attendance area, outside the walking distance of their assigned school as designated by MCPS, will be provided bus transportation to any of the three schools.
  • Students who apply and are accepted into one of the three magnet schools and reside in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Walter Johnson, or Rockville high school cluster will be provided with transportation from central locations in their cluster.
  • All other Montgomery County students who are accepted into a Consortium magnet school must provide their own transportation.
