The following are books to be read as free reading. Check the AR List to see if the titles are included. Remember when looking up a title on the AR list to not include the The in the title.

Incoming 6th and 7th grade students - Don't forget when you are planning your summer to include a Black-Eyed Susan nominee for the 2007/ 08 year. The list is here. Incoming 6th grade students may read from either list. 7th grade students should read from the 6th - 9th grade list. In the fall, all of the BES titles will be added to the AR list.

Below is Mrs, Larson's recommended reading list for 7th grade, soon-to-be 8th grade, male students. These books will also be enjoyed by females, but the lighter romance books have not been included. The following list (in no particular order) is made up of books that I have read and enjoyed, except for the last (Amulet) which was devoured and recommended by my non-reading teenage son.  Some are on the young side, but are on my not to be missed while growing up list.  A few are on an older level.  Individual choice is important here.  There are mysteries, science fiction, realistic fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, biographies, and combinations of all of them. Books with asterisks have developed into series.

For those of you with public library cards, go to this website http://www.sailor.lib.md.us/cgi-bin/ebsco?DB=novelists , enter your library card number and you can look at lists of books sorted by genre, lexile, author, subject, etc. etc.  Novelist K-8 is a wonderful resource for parents and students.
