Residency Requirements
To 8th grade parents:
MCPS requires that students transitioning from grade 8 to grade 9 provide proof of residency to their middle school. The documentation must verify residency in Montgomery County and determine that your child’s high school enrollment is consistent with your address.
Please provide your child’s middle school (counseling dept. secretary) with updated residency information as soon as possible. You may mail, fax or hand deliver the documentation to Jeanne Brown in the Counseling Office (tel. 301-897-2260 fax 301 571-7752).
Acceptable documentation is a copy of your property tax bill if you own your house or a copy of your current lease if you rent. Please direct any questions to Jeanne Brown at the number above.
For information, please follow the link to the MCPS website explaining this in more detail:
PARENT/GUARDIAN GUIDELINES FOR STUDENT PARTIES
National Institute for Drug Abuse for Teens
The North Bethesda GAC (Guidance Advisory Committee) meets 3 times a year to support the guidance program and to plan activities for students, staff, and parents. The committee welcomes ideas and input from students and parents about ways to help all students be successful.
The GAC has a workgroup on Character Education. A character education initiative is a joint effort by parents, staff, and students to identify and agree on positive character traits they wish to develop in the school community. These character traits are then integrated into academic subjects like English and Social Studies and through extra-curricular activities like sports, community service projects, and peer mediation. While developing good character is first and foremost a parental responsibility, it is also a community responsibility that is shared with school, youth service groups, and community organizations. Creating a character education initiative is part of North Bethesda Middle School's mission and is part of the school's Success for Every Student Plan.
