Below are the Daily Announcements that were part of the morning television show on our school television station WPBH Channel 19.  These announcements are usually posted by 9:00 am daily,  when school is in session.

Good morning Paint Branch.  It’s Friday, November 20, 2009. I’m Lola Sonieregun, I’m Shawna Melvin and welcome to your healthy supplement of Freestyle Friday!

The Chess Club will meet today during LAP in room A113. Anyone interested in playing chess is welcome to come.

Hispanic awareness Club will be holding a mandatory meeting for in room H133 today during LAP. See Ms. Cardona or Mr. Burgos for more details. Gracias!

The Gay/Straight Alliance will meet today during LAP in room H007. All staff and students are welcome to attend. Please see Mr. Goldsmith for details.

The Science Expo boards are now being sold in the school store. They are only $5.00 each and a variety of colors are available. Check it out!

Attention Seniors:  Don't forget to turn in a baby picture by December 1, 2009 to have it printed in the yearbook.  Please give your baby picture and $5.00 to either Ms. Litten or Shruti Mistry in room A111. 

Want to double your money? Join the Panther Trust with $5.00 and you will win $5.00.  The bank is near the counseling unit and will be open Wednesday and Friday during LAP.  Hurry as the special ends Friday.

Looking for a way to get SSL hours? Why not volunteer at the Thanksgiving Day Parade.  Be a Costume Character, hold a giant balloon, ride a float or throw candy.  Many positions are available.  If you are interested see Mrs. Long in the counseling office for more details.

If you are planning on attending the Project Harvest field trip on November 23, 2009, please remember to turn in your permission slips and 10 non-perishable foods to Ms. Birdin in room H027 today.

Reminder to all students that the Key Club Canned Food Drive will be ending today, November 20, 2009 so please bring in any canned foods and place them in the box located in room D016. For more information about the canned food drive or Key Club, please contact club sponsor, Mrs. Brinsko, or club president, Sunny Ji. 

The English Honor Society is now accepting applications for membership. Application forms can be found in room A115, the English Office. All applications are due by December 4, 2009.

The Indoor Track Team has won numerous matches all over the county. Our own Alfred Huyhn went to capture some of their glory.

Paint Branch offers a number of ways for students to get involved in the school. We offer numerous clubs and sports. Our own Jen Gutierrez went out to check out on of our clubs, the Gay Straight Alliance, known as GSA. Let’s see what she discovered.

The Cheerleaders have supported Game and school Events all Summer and Fall…..NOW IT IS YOUR TIME TO SUPPORT AND CHEER FOR YOUR GREAT VARSITY CHEERLEADERS. Come out to Blair this Saturday November 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. as they compete in there county competition. THEY HAVE THE CHEERS, MOVES and SMILES to take First place. Tickets are $5.00 and will be sold at the door.

Attention all field hockey players, varsity AND JV!  There will be a brief meeting at the BEGINNING of LAP TODAY in Mr. Feher's room, H021.  Make sure you are there, and on time!  If you haven't returned your uniforms, bring them in a bag with your name on it to the meeting.

The Panthers will now play at Sherwood on Friday, November 20, 2009 in the 4A West Region Championship game.

Good morning Paint Branch. It’s Thursday, November 19, 2009. I’m Shawna Melvin, I’m Lola Soniregun and these are your absolutely magical morning announcements.

Does God have a plan for your life? Come and find out. We will be discussing this and allot more at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. We meet every Thursday during LAP in room H025, Mr. Smith’s classroom, everyone is welcome.

Did your batteries die again? Don't throw them away, collect your batteries and place them in our Battery Drive container. The EcoExist Student Association for the Environment will make sure they are disposed of properly and cause minimal damage to the environment. The container is located in the Media Center or in room D015 so drop them in anytime!

Ninth Graders-not happy about your grades first marking period?  Come to the Homework Center!  Please note a change of locations:  Come to A102 on Tuesdays and to the Media Center on Thursdays.  We start at 2:30 and space will be limited, so get there early.

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) will have their general meeting today in Ms. Yeh's Room D112 during LAP. Anyone can come, join and have fun!

Be sure to tune in your TVs or Promethean Boards to Channel 12 or 19 at LAP for Paint Branch Radio.  The Radio Station airs a program every Tuesday and Thursday at LAP!  Paint Branch radio, the Voice of the Panthers.

On Thursday, December 3, 2009 the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, known as the ASVAB, will be given to interested 10th, 11th and 12th graders. If you would like to take an interest inventory, you can sign up in the College/Career Center or in the NJROTC classroom, E002.

Pre-College Programs in Undergraduate Studies at the University of Maryland cordially invites you to "Financing Your Future" - A Scholarship Information Session on Saturday, November 21, 2009. This is a FREE event open to all area high school juniors, seniors and their families. If you're interested, stop by the College/Career Center to pick up a flyer.  Spaces are limited and registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Freshman Challenge drawing for 1st Quarter has been completed. Over 400 students in the 9th grade were eligible and had no referrals this quarter. The following students will receive prizes like Under Armour & Adidas backpacks, Skull Candy Ear buds, and I-pods.  Freshmen, keep your grades up so you can be eligible for next quarter's drawing! The winners are: Patricia Brown, Sarah Kass, Michael Peters, Dana Lee Lewis, Cindy Jean, Yosef Getachew, Julie NgoMark Burgess, Alex Pujols, and Brinton Amobi. Keep up the great work freshmen!

The Montgomery County Women's Bar Foundation is sponsoring its 9th annual "Preparing for Success" Fall Forum for young women on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The conference will start with a keynote address and will offer workshops focusing on getting a job and keeping it; budgets, checkbooks and credit cards; the college admission process; and, a session entitled "Street Law & How to Stay Safe."  A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. The day will conclude with a "Right Look" fashion show. The program is free, but you are asked to register online. Bus transportation is also free and will leave Paint Branch at 9:15 a.m. and return around 5:15 p.m. For more information, stop by the College/Career Center and pick up a flyer.

Have you decided that college is not for you? Do you enjoy working with your hands?  If the answer to these questions is yes, then you should attend the meeting today with the representative from the United Association Mechanical Trades School.  He will talk about professional training in today's highly technical air conditioning, heating and plumbing fields, with employment at a Washington area mechanical contracting firm as part of the deal. Stop by the College/Career Center to look at the information and sign up to attend the meeting.

Today at 1:00 pm, a representative from Old Dominion University will be here to talk to interested juniors and seniors. On Thursday we will host the University of Hartford, and on Friday, Montgomery College will be here. Stop by the College/Career Center to sign up for any of these meetings.

Seniors: You must complete all required hours in order to purchase a Prom Ticket in the spring and in order to qualify for the Meritorous

Model UN is having a mandatory meeting today at LAP in Mr. Miller's room H022.  This meeting is required for all students who hope to attend the Model UN Conference in March.

Junior Hayder Cherinet fared well at this past weekend's Cross Country State Championships!!  The Panther stand out tackled the muddy course to finish 79th out of 144 runners!  The state meet closes out what was an incredible season for both Paint Branch Cross Country teams!!
