The Global Ecology Studies
Program provides students with the knowledge and understanding of
the scientific, cultural, social, political, economic, and
technological conditions that affect the quality of life on our
planet. The program involves an interdisciplinary approach to study of
environmental issues with major emphasis on science and social
studies areas. This is a field based program offering students an opportunity to go out about twice a month for hands-on field experiences. The integrated curriculum provides students with an opportunity to explore a wide range of environmental issues and potential solutions. The program integrates the use of several software programs such as GIS and Ecobeaker to assist them in studying these complex issues. The Global Ecology Studies Program networks extensively with the local, state, national and international community to further enhance students' growth and awareness. Students
are challenged to develop a global ecological perspective as they
investigate historical and current issues related to the earth's
natural resources.
