2008-09 Ritchie Park PTA Event Committees

 

Help the PTA run one of our many fun events that are offered for our families and children of RPES. Contact the past or current coordinator for more details and grab a friend to help if you are interested. The events are a lot of fun to plan and you will receive lots of smiles and many thanks!

 

Arts/Science Fair: Adina Hilliard (need email) and 2 Open

Description: Help coordinate, set up and run this one night event that is usually in May. Send out flyers, request and form child projects, request family scientists to participate and other parents to volunteer their time with set-up.

 

Books & Breakfast: Jennifer Young (Jennifer.Young@ed.gov)

Description: Families and their children are welcomed to a free breakfast before the school day starts while reading books provided by the media center. Help coordinate and run this two consecutive morning event in October.

 

Music/Dance Night:  Kristen Swiggett (KSwiggett@comcast.net)

Description: Help coordinate this once a year fun night for the RPES kids to enjoy a free night of kid’s music, dancing, and fun food to eat. Send out flyers and emails to spread the word. Request volunteers to help set up/clean up.

 

Healthy Fun Night: Kim Testa (KGTesta@aol.com) and  Melinda Kelley (Kelley6452@hotmail.com)

Description:Set up and coordinate a free fun night for the kids which emphasizes good health and exercise. Recruit volunteers to help for this once a year event.

 

Pizza Bingo: Laura Bach (laurabach1@aol.com) and  Reema Guegel (reemajg@aol.com) (contact Rori at RoriKWoman@aol.com for more info)

Description: Help set up, coordinate and run this very popular family event that is located in St Raphaels on one weekend night. Coordinate food and bingo card sales, send out flyers/emails and recruit a group of volunteers to help.

 

Scholastic Book Fair: Erin Lobato(erin_lobato@hotmail.com) and Kelly Wynne (kwynne100@aol.com)

Description: Help set up the November Scholastic Book Fair in the media center with Ms. Fontyn. Recruit volunteers for time slots during and after school to help set-up/take down, helping kids with choices, restocking books, and working as cashier.

 

Sneak Preview:  Jan Spencer (JSpencer2@aol.com ) and  Suzanne Smith (SRRN74@hotmail.com)

Description: Help set up the annual preview night where students meet their new teachers with their family and then catch up with school friends. Coordinate food sales, PTA booths, and recruit volunteers to assist with set-up/clean up

 

Variety Show:  Karen Mickens (DRKMJM@aol.com ) and  Sheila Olano (asolanomds@hotmail.com)

Description: Help coordinate our young talented kids in a fun night of showcasing their talents. Need to be available for preview nights and enlist a group of volunteers to help run the event smoothly.

 

Recycled Book Swap:  Karen Watson (kmpk1969@yahoo.com ) and  Anita Moises (anitamoises8z@yahoo.com)

Description: Coordinate this fun event for the kids at the end of the school year to be able to bring in any books they no longer want and swap for other student’s books.

 

Spring Festival:  2 OPEN (Contact Amy Paternostro (apaternostro@comcast.net ) for more info)

Description: A fun Saturday afternoon event for the kids to enjoy crafts, games, dancing, and carnival food with their families, staff members and school friends. Coordinate event and recruit staff and parent volunteers to help.

 

International Night:  Cindy Griffiths (CGriffiths@verizon.net ) and  Judith Scott (needEmail@yahoo.com)

Description: Coordinate an early year night time event where families are encouraged to set up booths in the gym representing their heritage/nationality. Kids then enjoy visiting the “countries.” A dinner is also set up in the APR with volunteers making tasty dishes from all over the world.

 

Community Service:  Rori Kochman (RoriKWoman@aol.com ) and  Debra Scheinberg (Scheinberg@comcast.net) and 1 OPEN

Description: Set up and run community service projects for our school and coordinate our annual community service night in late winter.

 

Staff Appreciation:  Reema Guegal (reemajg@aol.com ),  Jan Spencer (JSpencer2@aol.com) and Suzanne Smith (SRRN74@hotmail.com)

Description: Coordinate Staff Appreciation Week (1st week of May) by soliciting for parent donations/volunteering via flyers/email and setting up a list of events to make a wonderful week for the great staff at RPES.

 

Movie Night:  1 OPEN (Aida Klun to assist?)

Description: Organizes movie to be shown for kids in the all-purpose room the Thursday night during the Book Fair.
