Greetings! My name is Darryl V. Johnson. I am the 8th grade administrator. I am excited to be a part of the outstanding Robert Frost staff, where exceptional teaching and learning takes place. I had a nurturing childhood growing up in New Jersey with my mom, a retired educator, my brother and five sisters. I also have one son and sixteen nieces and nephews whom I love very much! Family is extremely important to me as well as church and community. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, sports, health & fitness, traveling and history.
I received my B.S. degree, Cum Laude and my M. Ed. from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. I have completed coursework toward the Ed.D at the University of Maryland College Park as well. Prior to coming to MCPS, I was a substitute teacher in the Newark Public Schools and the Program Director of Western Sussex Academy, a small private school in Delaware. This is my eighth year in MCPS, the best school system in the country! As a school counselor, I have worked with some of the most amazing people at Kingsview and Redland Middle Schools, as well as John F. Kennedy High School. I have also been blessed to share my student centered philosophy while sponsoring a variety of clubs and organizations at each school. One of my favorite quotes is by Abraham Lincoln, “I do the best I know how, the very best I can; and I mean to keep on doing it to the end. If the end brings me out all right, what is said against me will not amount to anything. If the end brings me out all wrong, ten angels swearing I was right would make no difference.”
