Welcome Note from Ms. Padilla,
Stonegate's school counselor
I would like to take this opportunity to let you know more about me and my role as counselor. I received my masters in School Guidance and Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. I have been a teacher of grades 3-6, and have spent the last four years as the Staff Development Teacher at Stonegate.
I am eager to begin working with your son/daughter and look forward to forming a strong partnership with each of you. The counseling program will address five areas: personal, academic, healthy, interpersonal, and career development I plan on working closely with the entire Stonegate community to ensure that the needs of the students are met through the following ways:
- classroom guidance lessons for all students on topics such as conflict/resolution, decision making, stress management, etc.
- small group counseling sessions on topics such as self esteem, making friends, dealing with loss, etc... * individual short-term counseling
- consultation with teachers, administrators, support staff
- parent conferences to discuss child's successes and needs.
Your child will bring home a brochure during the month of September that will explain my role in the school and how to get in touch with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
Also, if you have any of these items to donate to the Counselor's room, the students and I would really appreciate it:
bean bag chairs
large throw pillows
dollhouse and/or dollhouse dolls, furniture, etc...
puppets
games
unused modeling clay or playdohThank you so much!
Tina Padilla, Counselor
