Parent Reunification Plan

In the event of an emergency, Stonegate will institute the following plan in order to reunite parents with their children:

 

Parent Check-In ---All-Purpose Room (APR)

  • Parents will enter the APR by the back door and exit the school by the front entrance
  • There will be two tables manned by Front Office staff or other staff members in the APR
  • Staff will use information on the MCPS 565-1 Emergency Information Card and other documents of consent to verify individual signing child(ren) out
  • Walkie-talkies will be used to communicate with the Front Office
  • Secretary or other staff members, located in the Front Office, will call student(s) from classrooms upon request by staff in APR
  • Staff will be located in the main hallway area outside of the interior APR doors
  • Parents will be directed to wait there after signing child(ren) out
  • Student(s) will report to main hallway area to reunite with parent
  • The Front Office will make signs directing parents to the entrance and exit
  • The Principal will detail the Parent Reunification plan at staff meeting

 

Staff Duties/Responsibilities

  • If the Parent/Child Reunification process needs to be put into place at Stonegate Elementary School , the following staff will be responsible for implementing this process:
  • Building Service Workers will lock all doors. Set up a long table by the side APR doors for sign out. Assist Front Office Staff in posting signs and directing parents to reunification area.
  • Staff Development Teacher /Counselor will take reunification sign-out binder, pens, and emergency information cards to APR. Bring walkie-talkies to communicate with Front Office staff. Allow parents/guardians who show identification to enter APR and sign out student(s) once information is verified. Call office to locate student(s) being released. Direct parents to main hallway area.
  • Staff members not involved in instruction or monitoring of students will monitor students who have been called from their classroom to reunite with parents. Prevent parents from picking child(ren) up from the classroom or roaming the building. Escort younger students and/or students with special needs. Monitor hallways. Direct parents to the exit. One staff member will be located by the drop-off circle to direct parents to the back door entrance of APR and direct traffic to the largest parking area.
  • Administrative Secretary/Attendance Secretary will call students from classrooms as requested. Cover telephone lines.
