School Facilities

Parking: The school parking lot located to the left of the building is often full. To keep the parking lot clear for buses, never use this parking lot between 8:30 and 9:15 or between 2:40 and 3:15 p.m. Park on Notley Road. Parking is not permitted in the front traffic loop at any time-it is a fire zone and must be kept open.

Drop off and Pick Up: The right lane of the front loop is for drop off and pick up only. Drivers must stay in their cars. Parked cars in this area disrupt the normal flow of traffic and may potentially cause unnecessary accidents.

Telephone: Please use the phone located in the hallway in front of the office. Local calls only.

Volunteer Information

Signing In and Out and Tracking Your Volunteer Hours: All visitors must check in at the office upon arrival and wear a visitor's badge, even if you're just running into the school for a few minutes.

Sign the Visitor's Log. Volunteers must sign in at the office and wear a badge as well. Record time in and out and hours served in the Volunteer Sign-In Log.

Volunteers are considered agents of the local Board of Education for the limited purpose of comprehensive liability insurance and workmen's compensation coverage while on school property.

Please keep track of hours spent at home and either record them in the school volunteer log or keep a log at home, and add it to the Volunteer Log at the end of the year. Click here to get a printable form.

Hours spent volunteering are provided to the School Superintendent's office. Our school can be recognized by the State of Maryland for outstanding volunteerism if we track our hours accurately.

PTA volunteer badges are stuck to the bulletin board in the copy machine room.

Notification of Absence: If you are scheduled to volunteer for an activity and can't make it, please try to call at least 24 hours in advance. Please leave a message with the school secretary with the name of the teacher you were scheduled to help and the time you were expected.

Copier Protocol

If you spend any time in the workroom, you'll quickly notice that the copier is in high demand! Stonegate staff members have priority over PTA members for copier usage.

If you're copying for a teacher for immediate use, then you are treated with the same priority as if you are the teacher.

If you use up all the paper in the copier, please replace it. If you use up the toner, be sure to tell the front office staff. If you're unlucky enough to have a paper jam, be sure to ask for help in clearing the machine if you're unable to clear it by yourself. And, finally, if you're doing copying after school and you run into any of these problems, please write a note for the front office staff so they are aware when they come in the next day.

No codes are required for using the copy machine.

PTA Flyers

You can distribute PTA flyers into the staff boxes on any day of the week, but they are usually sent home by the teachers in the Friday folders. (Some teachers choose to send them home sooner, however.) If each Stonegate family needs only one copy (as opposed to each Stonegate student needing a copy), ask Mrs. Tegethoff for a count that considers "Youngest in Family."

Always make 25 extra copies of your notice to be kept in the rack in the front office.

Lost and Found

Please label all student belongings, i.e., lunchboxes, backpacks, sweaters, jackets, coats, hats, books. Lost and found items will be stored on the stage of the all-purpose room. Items will be eventually donated to charity, so if you think your child has lost something at school, check lost and found!

Safety and Security

Fire Drill Procedure: If you are with a student outside of a classroom when a fire drill happens, proceed directly outside and then look for the student's class. Do NOT go back to the student's classroom.

Code Red/Code Blue Procedures: In the event of a Code Red or Code Blue drill, proceed to the closest classroom and adhere to the directions from the classroom teacher. If you are with students, accompany them to the closest classroom-NOT to the student's classroom.
