Reading for Literary Experience: Enduring Understandings
Grade 1:
Authors tell stories using many different forms to make their stories interesting and to convey a message. Folktale literature contains stories that have been handed down by oral retelling.

Grade 2: Folk literature presents stories that have been handed down to us by oral retelling. Different cultures have many of the same folktales and legends. Folk literature helps us understand universal truths about people everywhere.

Grade 3: Authors use a variety of genres of literature to convey meaning. Authors use selected techniques to make reading interesting and engaging.
