Color It! You can print these out later.
Listen to the
Blue
Heron,
the state bird of Maryland.
We will discuss the duck eggs that are hatching in the classroom. We will look at books about eggs and ducks, such as Duckling Days by Karen Wallace, Duck (Watch It Grow series) by Barrie Watts, Ducks Don't Get Wet by Augusta Goldin, Ducks by Gail Gibbons, and Watching Water Birds by Jim Arnosky.
The media specialist will briefly explain the idea of the Internet (computers connected to other computers around the world) and then demonstrate how to use a link, back button, and home. Students will start at the Travilah Home Page, scroll down to find the K icon, and click on it.
When they get to this page, they will click on the word egg. They will view the pictures of an egg hatching. They will click on the back button in the top menu bar. When they return to this page, they will click on the words Duck Stuff.
They will explore Duck Stuff links. Use the pull down menu to open Duck ID guide, if necessary.
Next they will click on Fun and Games (a smiley face icon). They will use the pull down menu to reach Color It! (Or if time is short, you may follow these directions instead: They will click on the back button in the top menu bar. When they return to this page, They will click on the words Color It.)
Next, they will click on the state bird. When the blue heron picture is on the screen, they will be rewarded with a pre-printed picture of the duck to color.
Before they leave the computer to color at the worktables, they will click on the home button in the top menu bar to return to the Travilah Home Page. They will write their name and the word duck or duckling on the coloring worksheet.
