Travilah is implementing the new MCPS Reading Initiative (K-2), a plan to ensure that all county students become independent readers by the end of second grade. Based on the latest research on the most effective methods for the teaching of reading, it incorporates a variety of strategies and techniques to form a balanced literacy program. Students meet in small groups for ninety minute of instruction in reading and writing each day.
