Travilah Celebrates Read Across America 

For several years, a national reading program has evolved around Dr. Seuss' birthday. So on March 2, 2001, Travilah celebrated reading, along with the rest of the nation, with activites coordinated by Mrs. Skinner, our reading specialist. Over 350 Travilah students participated in the "at - home" Read Across America reading project that started in January and culminated on March 2, 2001. Students recorded the minutes spent reading on a US map...lots of students "visited" every state! (You could claim the state of your choice for each 30 minutes spent reading!) Dr. Seuss' birthday was a true celebration with reading, special treats, and awards! Teachers and students had fun dressing up like that crazy cat and sharing favorite stories throughout the day!
