English Department

Department Overview

The Wheaton High School 's English Department focuses on developing the writing, reading, and speaking skills of all students. We offer honors level classes for English 9 through 12 as well as Advanced Placement classes in 11th and 12th grades. We provide electives in journalism, yearbook, and reading. All students are required to pass four years of English in order to graduate. In addition, beginning with the Class of 2009, our entering 9th graders, will have to pass the High School Assessment in English 10 as a requirement for graduation. Additionally, the High School Assessment for English 10 is taken by 10th graders as part of No Child Left Behind.
