A Message From Mrs. Starr
One of Woodfield staff’s goals is to ensure that we frequently communicate to parents what the students are learning and how they are performing on these desired goals and indicators at each grade level.
I hope that all of you who attended our Back to School Nights found the teachers’ presentations very informative.
In an effort to continue to focus on the importance of partnerships between home and school, all teachers in grades 1-5 on October 5th will be sending home interim reports to inform you of your child’s progress thus far this quarter. It will provide you with their grade in reading, math, and writing at this the half-way mark in the quarter. These reports do not mean that your student is in any danger of dropping in any subject area or is failing any class. It is simply the mid-point in the quarter and we want to share with you how she or he is doing in her/his new grade. You will also be receiving a letter that will inform you of your student’s current reading level based upon recent assessments that are given to students at the beginning of the school year.
Open House, on October 13th from 9:30 am until 11:30 am will also be a time for you to visit your child’s class and follow his or her daily morning schedule.
Then on Thursday, October 22nd (Kindergarten –Grade 2) will hold its Curriculum Night beginning at 7:00 p.m. and grades 3- 5 will hold their Curriculum Night on Thursday, October 29th at 7:00 p.m. This night is devoted to sharing with you what your students will be learning this year, expectations for performance, and strategies to support learning. Parents who attend this meeting get the answer to their question, “How can I help my child learn this?” Please join us. You will be happy that you attended this very important evening.
Curriculum Nights- October 22nd (Kindergarten- Grade 2) and October 29th (Grades 3-5) 7:00 p.m.

Free and Reduced –Priced Meals Application Process
Each household should have received and application for free or reduced lunches with the name and information of all Montgomery County Public Schools students in the household in a packet of materials sent home with your child on the first day. This was sent with the youngest in the family, but no younger than first grade. If you feel that your family qualifies for this service then the completed application should be returned to the Division of Food and Nutrition Services office. The school office will send these to this office if you wish. It is recommended that all FARMS applications be sent to that office by September 30th, to ensure that they are processed by the October 13th deadline. Students who were eligible for free or reduced lunches last year are eligible to receive them again until October 13, 2009.
