Its History and Mission

The Wootton Booster Club is a registered 501©(3) non-profit organization established in 2002 to promote interest in and support of all athletic activities at Thomas S. Wootton High School. Under a revised Mission Statement approved in 2005, it was agreed that the purpose of the Wootton High School Booster Club shall be to promote enthusiasm for all Wootton athletic activities and shall do so by:
• Providing financial support and volunteer resources for Wootton athletics as mutually determined by the athletic staff, school officials and the Wootton Booster Club leadership and that are not funded by Wootton High School or Montgomery County.
• Supporting requests of individual coaches or sanctioned student organizations.

Your Contribution Benefits Both the School and Its Athletes

As members of the Wootton Booster Club, you are making an invaluable contribution to your Wootton athletic teams by allowing us to pay for equipment, supplies, and major projects that benefit ALL athletic teams. During the 2006-2007 School Year, the Booster Club spend over $35,000 to renovate the boys' and girls' locker rooms for ALL STUDENTS. We also built new athletic training rooms for all the fine Wootton athletic teams, and remodeled the coaches rooms.
Also, we made the following donations for our teams and the Wootton facilities:
• $1,500 for new helmets for our Ice Hockey Team
• $3,000 for new Junior Varsity basketball uniforms
• $6,292 for new wrestling practice mats
• $4,000 for new goal posts in the stadium
• $2,200 for new storage sheds at the girls softball stadium and baseball/field hockey field complex.
• $10,950 for a new deck and to complete asphalt paving work to improve viewing areas for fans in the Stadium
• $11,283 approved for improvements to the baseball field/field hockey complex.
• $600 for championship banners for Girls Varsity Basketball Division Championship; and previous wrestling championship.
• $35,000 investment in the Locker Room Renovation Project
$74,825 Total Investments made in the 2006-2007 School Year.
For the current 2007-2008 School Year, we have numerous equipment requests from our athletic teams. The school is also in desperate need of funds to improve our outside practice facilities. The Booster Club is also a strong proponent in helping Wootton expand classroom space on its campus without the use of temporary classrooms.
New MCPS Guidelines on Booster Clubs, that will take effect on August 1, 2007, will present new challenges and responsibilities for the Wootton High School Booster Club, as the primary fundraising organization for all Wootton athletic teams.
