Determine the time of day/evening when YOU are the most
energetic and productive.

Study at the same time and place each day.

Work in the kitchen or dining room. Do not work in your
bedroom where you will be distracted.

Unplug the phone and turn off television or music. If working
on the computer, turn off ‘"Instant Message."

Have all necessary materials with you prior to starting
your studying.

Spend a minimum of TWO HOURS studying or completing homework
each day. If you finish the assigned work in less than two
hours, use the remaining time to review or work ahead.

Homework is critical for success in high school. Here are some suggested
strategies for improving study habits:

Enforce the agreed upon time to devote to study.

Monitor your student to ensure studying is being done.

cards) and phone numbers (Main Office, Attendance Office,
and Guidance Office) posted on you refrigerator.

tutors.

Keep involved in your student’s school life.
