Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) reserves Title I funds to support programs for Full Day Head Start, children and youth who are neglected and delinquent, and students in homeless status.
Full Day Head Start
The MCPS Prekindergarten/Head Start program serves income eligible families with children who will be four years old by September 1. This includes children with disabilities. There are limited spaces available in certain areas of Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park for Head Start income-eligible children who will be three years old by September 1.

Program for Students in Homeless Status
Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015, school districts must reserve federal funds to support district student residents who are homeless, attend a district public or charter school, or reside in a shelter. Title I funds provide supplementary support to students in MCPS.

Program for Children and Youth Who are Neglected and Delinquent or At-Risk
Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015, school districts must reserve federal funds to support student who are identified as being neglected and reside in institutions or participate in designated programs. In MCPS, Title I funds are used to support two programs, MCPS Alternative Programs and National Center for Children and Families.
