WE BELIEVE...
We will advance racial justice and cultural proficiency by interrupting systems of bias (implicit and explicit), oppression, and inequity in our policies, practices and procedures by challenging every MCPS employee to be courageous, persistent and effective in confronting and resolving racial and cultural issues that impact everyone but disproportionately impact the academic and social emotional success of students of color.

Learn about all the programs, trainings and supports that the MCPS Equity Department offers to schools, teachers and the community. The goals of the EIU are to bring equity to all MCPS students, staff and families by promoting cultural proficiency, to stop hate bias incidents and foster positive relationships with the members of our diverse population.
Watch and learn how teachers and elementary schools can empower students to become upstanders and not bystanders, to learn more about culture and the negative effects of stereotyping, as well as how to become more culturally proficient. The MCPS Equity Department offers a series of 4 lessons called Equity Student Dialogues to teach students these concepts and practices. The Unit also offers trainings for school staff to enable them to teach these lessons as well.
EquityMatters! is a newsletter produced by the MCPS Equity Department. It provides resources and stories to help MCPS staff use an equity and antiracist lens in all decisions, practices, and policies.
This padlet provides updated tools, modules, and other resources for staff and leaders. Keep checking back for the latest materials.
The Counter Story features the voices of our students, families, and staff who are often marginalized in the media, curriculum, and our classrooms. Counterstories help us to interrupt our explicit and implicit biases.
MCPS is engaged in a comprehensive Antiracist Audit. Click the button to get updated information about the audit.
