Employment and Salary Verification

Do you need proof of your MCPS employment and income?

MCPS is pleased to offer The Work Number, an automated employment verification service that allows employees to have employment and salary information verified within minutes.

The Work Number is used for mortgage applications, reference checks, loan applications, and apartment leases—anything that requires proof of employment. The service is quick, secure, and accurate, and there is no charge to employees. Information is provided directly to lenders and other verifiers.

The Work Number does NOT provide a detailed breakdown of your MCPS work experience (i.e., which office/school you worked for, your position title or pay schedule). Please scroll to the bottom of this screen for information on obtaining that information.  

How do I access The Work Number?

To access The Work Number, call 1-866-604-6572 or visit the The Work Number website.

When you log in to The Work Number for employment verification activities, you will need to complete a one-time initial enrollment after entering your user ID and password. This additional level of security was added as a step to continually improve the privacy of your information. You’ll likely be familiar with the format as it is one currently used by many leading financial institutions to better ensure users are who they say they are. If you have not logged in to The Work Number within the past 385 days, your account will be considered inactive and you will be locked out. Should this occur, you will need to telephone 1-800-996-7566 to request a one-time password that will allow you to reactivate your account.

How Do I Log In to The Work Number?

• Visit https://employees.theworknumber.com
• Select Log In and follow the simple prompts.
• Enter the Employee code 10448195.
• If this is your first vist, choose Register Now.
• If you are a returning user, enter your username and password.
• The screen prompts will walk you through all of the steps to help verifiy your identify and keep your account private while offering helpful messages if you have problems.

What information will be provided to the lender?

Basic Verification (usually required for reference checks)

• First name, middle initial, and last name spelled out
• Current employment status
• Most recent start or termination date
• Total time with MCPS
• Job title and work schedule (10 month/12 month)
• Reference number

Full Verification  

All basic information PLUS:

• Total rate of pay
• Gross earnings year to date with a breakdown for overtime
• Gross earnings for prior two years

What will I need to provide to access the information?

To access Basic Information, provide the lender/verifier with—

• Your social security number (Do not include dashes.)

To access Full Information, provide the lender/verifier with—

How do I obtain a salary key?

Dial 1-800-EMP-AUTH to access the Employee Service Line or visit The Work Number website. When prompted, enter:

• User ID (This is your social security number without the dashes.)
• Montgomery County Public Schools Code 10448195
• Your social security number (Do not include dashes.)
• Your PIN (your employee identification number, which is located on your ePaystub)

Record the six-digit salary key for future reference. The salary key is provided to the lender/verifier for Full Information access.

Does MCPS provide any other way for me to verify my employment?

You may access your current salary and position information by visiting Hub+. Log in and, under the Me tab, select Salary Information Notice to generate and print or email your current salary information notice.

How do I obtain detailed verification of my MCPS work experience?
