Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in conjunction with the Parent Teacher Student Associations of Silver Spring International Middle School and Sligo Creek Elementary School held an informational meeting on November 19, 2014, concerning the Maryland Transit Administration’s Purple Line Project in the schools’ neighborhood.
The purpose of this meeting was to provide an overview of the Purple Line project and design drawings developed for proposed modifications to the schools’ property. Proposed changes to Wayne Avenue and Dale Drive transform how the current school facilities fit into the community. The pedestrian and traffic flow, including parking configurations on the site, and the approaches to the site from the community were discussed.
The MTA Purple Line Team, and MCPS staff from the Office of Facilities Management participated in a half hour presentation of the slides available on this website and handled a Question & Answer session with the audience. MCPS will receive additional questions and comments concerning the proposed school modifications and impact from the Purple Line through the link provided below.
