Welcome to the teaching profession! This information page is for those that still have requirements to obtain full licensure and hold one of the following credentials:

• Conditional Degree Certificate (CDC) - Valid Two (2) Years

• Conditional Non Degree Certificate (CND) - Valid Two (2) Years

• Resident Teacher Certificate (RTC) - Valid Three (3) Years

• Conditional License (CL) -  Valid Five (5) Years

• Conditional Special Education License (CSEL) - Valid Three (3) Years

• Resident Teacher License (RTL) - Valid Three (3) Years

• Temporary Professional License (TPL)** - Valid Two (2) Years

** The Temporary Professional License is a professional license and is the exception from this list. It is noted because these educators only have two years to pass the Maryland Praxis 5205, Teaching Reading: Elementary test, to gain the five (5) year professional license.

Montgomery County Public Schools has university partnerships with programs that lead to full teacher licensure. Traditional and alternative programs are included with advantages for either program depending on your prior degrees and the teaching subject for which you were hired.
