WORKING TITLE: Coordinator, Student Assessment Testing Unit GRADE: N MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction of the Associate Superintendent of the Office of Shared Accountability (OSA) and the Supervisor of the Testing Unit, coordinates all aspects of federal, state, and local assessments administered in MCPS, in both paper/pencil and online formats. Manages multiple projects involving logistics, training, technology, data analysis, and data reporting. Communicates testing-related information to stakeholders, including the Board of Education, MCPS administrators and central services staff, teachers, parents, and the community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Experienced leader with strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and project management skills. Ability to coordinate staff, conducts meetings and trainings, and manages multiple competing priorities. Ability to provide descriptive analysis of data and communicate complex content both orally and in writing to a variety of stakeholders. Experience managing administration of high stakes assessments. In-depth knowledge of national and state assessment and accountability requirements; as well as research and trends in norm- and criterion-referenced testing. Ability to coordinate and manage office wide projects as assigned by the Associate Superintendent of OSA, and ability to transition from "big picture" context to fine levels of detail when managing projects and communicating ideas. Thorough knowledge of or ability to learn quickly the school system organization, operation and office management. Knowledge of assessment, research, program evaluation, regulatory and reporting practices. Outstanding skills in analyzing issues and solving problems under pressure, in oral and written communications, in interpersonal relationships, and in time management. Knowledge of budgeting and accounts monitoring processes. Knowledge of local, state, and national educational issues, assessments, and priorities. Strong technology skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Masters degree from an accredited college or university, with coursework in testing, evaluation, or educational research. Experience in management of test administration in a public school system. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates the administration of federal, state, and local assessments administered in MCPS, in both paper/pencil and online formats. Manages projects involving logistics, training, data analysis, and data reporting.
Responds to inquiries from school personnel, parents, and other stakeholders regarding testing and accountability issues.
Communicates testing-related information to stakeholders, including the Board of Education, MCPS administrators, teachers, parents, and the community.
Conducts meetings and trainings for school-based personnel related to testing and accountability requirements, logistics, and security. Collaborate with other MCPS offices, units or departments within the Office of Shared Accountability to support schools and to provide descriptive analysis of data and communicates complex content both orally and in writing to a variety of stakeholders.
Performs related duties as assigned.
