Under the guidance of the Chief of Staff, supports Office of Communications systemwide communications efforts using web-based, graphic and print materials. Coordinates events and publications in a fast-paced office environment. Provides innovative and effective approaches to improve service to customers. Exercises considerable initiative to resolve problems and to anticipate and respond professionally to telephone and email queries. Provides frontline support in the Office of the Superintendent of Schools. |
Working knowledge of organizational communications and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) organizational structure. Ability to analyze quantitative data reports; proficiency with presentation software such as PowerPoint, Keynote, and others. Ability to perform complex word processing, and data entry/extraction. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced office, coordinate logistics for major events, and quickly respond to communication needs. Excellent interpersonal, human relations, oral and written communication skills required. Ability to develop simple, user friendly communication tools. Knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS). |
High School or GED diploma required. Associates degree preferred. Minimum five years of progressively more responsible experience, three of which shall have been in the administrative support class in a school or central office setting. Completion of some college coursework in web publishing/design or business related courses desirable. Training and experience in office computing software applications. Experience developing/updating web pages. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered. |

1. Coordinates communications and logistics within the Office of Communications and with other MCPS offices and schools. 2. Assists in the planning and execution of events. 3. Researches and prepares written materials for Office of Communications. 4. Interprets, analyzes and extracts data to assist in the development of school district information for outreach activities, including PowerPoint presentations and printed materials. 5. Provides customer service and document management support to the Office of the Superintendent of Schools. 6. Assist visitors and staff by answering questions and resolving problems 7. Edits publications, memoranda, and standard communications. 8. Assists with the development and maintenance of the Department of Communications and Superintendent of Schools websites. 9. Performs related work as required.
