WORKING TITLE: Accountability Support Specialist I GRADE: 20 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction of the Director, is responsible for collecting, organizing, and conducting evaluation studies on MCPS instructional programs, policy, and initiatives. Develops a process for the systematic collection, review and analysis of data required to evaluate policies. This process includes collaborating with responsible offices and schools to gather data, analyze, and prepare reports with findings and conclusions. Monitors schools and offices participation and progress in responding to the data evaluation activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Considerable knowledge of the MCPS organization; ability to collect and retrieve existing data; manage materials in collection of data through surveys and/or assessments, assistance in the development of data to be used for reports. Knowledge of assessment, data collection methods, distribution and receipt control; use of data for analysis and report production. Attention to detail and ability to establish review process to create error proof products. Ability to work independently to seek out sources of information. Ability to organize and manage several tasks or projects with time sensitive deadlines concurrently. Ability to relate well to staff, parents, and outside community members. Knowledge and skills in the use of word processing, spreadsheets, and Web publishing. Skill in proofreading numbers and text. Assist in the designing and writing of reports. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree required. Two years experience in assessment or survey distribution and receipt control; checking statistical data for errors and solving problems relating to data; experience in supporting report writing. Experience working with a variety of individuals within MCPS (i.e. work units/departments/schools), parents, and outside community members for distribution and explanation of data and reports. Other applicable training and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Functions as overall support specialist coordinating all aspects of a data collection project as part of school accountability system.

2. Meets with school staff, other offices, and others to coordinate the delivery and receipt control of assessments/surveys and other data collection instruments which are integral for school and student accountability.

3. Troubleshoots logistics and data problems and provides technical assistance on aspects of data collection and reporting.

4. Attends meetings to ensure Materials.

5. Management can coordinate movement of materials to and from schools and to and from the warehouse.

6. As necessary ensures secure materials are appropriately handled.

7. Assists with creating, monitoring and modifying data.

8. Works with staff in use and interpretation of data.

9. Gains necessary knowledge and experience to accomplish these.

10. Performs related work as required.
