Interpreter/Translator:  Spanish
The Spanish Interpreter and Translator tests are designed to support occasional and/or unusual situations when interpreting and translating services are required. 

Contact Ms. Maria Elena Campos (maria_e_campos@mcpsmd.org) in the Language Assistance Services Unit (LASU) to schedule Spanish tests.

Please review the test requirements listed below:
INTERPRETATION TEST: The interpretation test taker...
  • must be a current MCPS staff member.
  • must be available for 30 minutes without interruptions.
  • must have access to their own MCPS or personal email account, and to a recording device (computer, laptop, cell phone).
  • will receive an email with a video (approximately three minutes in length), on the scheduled test date and time.
  • must interpret the video and send the recording by email within 30 minutes, otherwise, the interpretation test will be marked as a fail.
  • will receive their results via email, within one week.
TRANSLATION TEST: The translation test taker...
  • must be a current MCPS staff member.
  • must be available for 30 minutes without interruptions.
  • must have access to their own MCPS or personal email account, and to a computer with Microsoft Word.
  • will receive an email with a document to translate, and further instructions on the translation test date and time.
  • must translate the document provided, and send the translated version by email within one hour, otherwise, the translation test will be marked as a fail.
  • will receive their results via email, within one week.
Interpreter/Translator: Other languages
Tests for other languages are available through TransPerfect at a fee. Tests are done virtually through Zoom or Teams.
  • Staff members must register at the TransPerfect Portal in order to schedule a test.  
  • After registering, the staff member will receive a link to pay for the tests. The cost is $95 per test.
  • After confirming their payment, TransPerfect will communicate directly with the staff member to schedule the test.
