Child Find

Child Find provides free developmental screenings for children from three years of age until kindergarten. It is also the single point of entry for families moving into Montgomery County whose preschool-aged child has been previously identified with a disability.

Non-resident families with developmental concerns about their child who does NOT have an IEP and attends a preschool or child care center located in Montgomery County may contact Child Find.

Parentally placed private school students’ parents/guardians with school-aged students (5-21 years of age) may contact Mrs. Anna E. Szilagyi-Weichbrod at 240-740-3855 or via e-mail at Anna_E_Szilagyi-Weichbrod@mcpsmd.org for a Child Find referral packet.

Birth through 34 ½ months:

Parents of children between birth and thirty-four and one half months of age should contact Montgomery County Infants and Toddlers Program to request an evaluation if they have concerns about their child’s development at 240-777-3997 or complete the online referral at referral.mditp.org.

Kindergarten to Age 21:

Parents of students in kindergarten through age 21 should contact their neighborhood school to request an evaluation.

In order to complete a screening for a child who will enter Kindergarten in the fall (born prior to September 1, 2020), the completed paperwork must be received by the Child Find office by

April 18, 2025

After that date, screenings will be handled by the neighborhood school.
