The MCPS Drive for Supplies program, led in partnership with the MCPS Student Leadership & Extracurricular Activities and the MCPS Sustainability and Compliance units, where students and staff donated new and gently used school supplies when cleaning out their desks and lockers at the end of the school year.

Thirty-one student volunteers spent a week sorting 252 boxes of donations and repurposed 4,539.6 pounds of school supplies saving them from our landfills.  On Friday, July 19, 2024 MCPS held a shopping day at Parkland Middle School to connect those school supplies to 1,465 students from across MCPS to help them be best prepared for the start of the school year.

In attendance at the shopping day event were Council Members Will Jawando, Laurie-Anne Sayles, and staff from Natali Fani-Gonzalez’s office. We also had staff from Senator Ben Cardin and Senator Chris Van Hollen’s office.
