FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: MCPS Youth Climate Institute - Apply by Oct. 4th

In this extracurricular program, student leaders learn about climate science, impacts, and solutions. They use their knowledge to complete climate action projects that address climate issues in their community and to become Certified Ambassadors. More information and to apply, click HERE.

Aviation Adventures Lecture Series: Women Take Flight: Stories of Air and Sea from the U.S. Coast Guard Listen in as U.S. Coast Guard Cmdr. Jeanine Menze, Cmdr.  Chanel Lee, and Cmdr.  La'Shanda R. Hawkins as they discuss the victories and challenges of flying rescue and maritime enforcement missions for the military. These trailblazing pilots were some of the first Black women to break barriers in their field by serving as aviators with the United States Coast Guard.

This program will be presented in-person at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, and will be streamed live on YouTube.

HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS INTERESTED IN TEACHING SCIENCE OR MATH- Towson UTeach, Towson University’s program to prepare future secondary school mathematics and science teachers, is pleased to announce the availability of Kahlert Foundation Scholarships ($3,000 per year for up to four years) to be awarded to incoming freshmen who enroll at the university in Fall 2025 and plan to pursue a career in secondary school mathematics or science teaching. The scholarship committee will begin considering completed applications on December 2, 2024.
