MoCo Reconnect.png

We are excited to share an important opportunity for young leaders in Montgomery County! The Montgomery County Housing Youth Action Board is now accepting applications for new members. This board provides a unique platform for youth to engage in meaningful discussions, actions and trainings about housing issues affecting our community.

What is the Youth Action Board?

The Youth Action Board is dedicated to empowering young voices to address housing challenges, promote equity, and create solutions that benefit all residents. Members will have the chance to collaborate with peers, community leaders, local government and local organizations.

Youth will get an array of trainings to become community advocates, trips to different states to connect with other YABs, connection to case management, therapy and resources through our Moco Reconnect Center.

 Compensation:

Youth will be paid $25/hour for about 6/10 hours a month.

 Who Can Apply?

We encourage youth aged 16-24 who have experience with housing insecurity and those passionate about housing and community issues to apply. No prior experience is necessary—just a commitment to making a difference!

Housing insecurity can mean an array of lived experience, it can be being homeless, being behind on rent, possible eviction, living in multi-family homes, couch surfing, or having family members who experienced this.

 How to Get Involved:

To apply or learn more about the Youth Action Board, please visit https://collaborationcouncil.org/YAB/ or contact luz.chavez-gonzales@collaborationcouncil.org and sela.gebrechirstos@collaborationcouncil.org at the Montgomery County Collaboration Council. The deadline for applications is October 16th.

We believe that youth voice is vital in shaping our community’s future. Join us in making a positive impact!
