Three new initiatives are underway:

  1. Food Scraps Composting will partner with Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection to recover “pre-consumer” food scraps at two central sites. Some students are also developing “post-consumer” composting programs in schools.
  2. MCPS will expand Solar Power Purchasing Agreements to 8 additional school sites.
  3. An Investment Grade Audit Request for Qualifications will be published to identify new ways to save energy and implement infrastructure improvements.

Watch the December 9 Policy Management Committee to learn about work towards a new systemwide Sustainability Policy and how some students have been engaged in these efforts.
